Kinda busy chasing deadlines... so I guess I'll have to do with another fanart.
This time it's Saya,
the silent, brooding, mysterious, and deadly protagonist of Production IG's Blood: The Last Vampire.
A landmark classic in my opinion. The first completely digital anime, and the first to blend both 2D and 3D animation seamlessly. Also the first to use both English and Japanese dialogue, (it's not the usual where everyone
) and used lots of soft lighting and subdued colors(unlike the usual bright pallette). Add the fluid animation,(which I swear must have been motion captured) and everything just looked so realistic, you'd almost think you were watching a live action flick.
There's also a series that takes place after the movie titled Blood+
but it looks sooo different. =/
Saya ain't the regular anime female lead as well. She isn't the typical bright eyed, buxom anime female with the outrageous do. She looks so.... real. Normal hair in a nice pigtail, full nose, pouty lips
and gotta love those eyes and that chilling stare.
Because of her I became an instant fan of Katsuya Terada
He can draw realistic faces yet still keep his distinct anime style in there. Something I wish I can also accomplish.
This started out as a quickie during the last daMEAT, took around 10 minutes with a very dull 2B clutch pencil and
's red colored pencil. I darkened the colors a bit in Photoshop and redrew her pupils with the brush tool.
I'm seeing red!
BTW, I think the only funny part of the whole thing was her Japanese school girl outfit.
I know she's supposed to blend in, but the students didn't wear uniform. I wonder why the other kids never noticed that. -_0 To be honest, I think it was Terada's fault, he's a fetish artist anyway.
She was the only one who did, hence her classic line:
Saya: (while fidgeting with her uniform) "What the hell is this?"
